Endaoment's On Etherscan – Bringing Increased Clarity to Onchain Giving

At Endaoment, we believe that understanding the underlying operations behind your giving enables informed decision-making, and strengthens the connections between your contributions and their end impact.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working with the team at Etherscan to make interactions with the Endaoment protocol more transparent and accessible. We’ve added comprehensive transaction and contract labeling across the Endaoment protocol to bring a level of clarity to how users interact with our contract entities.

Every deployment, donation flow, public fund management operation, and administrative change can now be traced and clearly understood. These labels will serve as an educational tool, making it easy to understand how Endaoment functions.

Comprehensive labeling for better understanding

When navigating Endaoment transactions on Etherscan, you'll notice labels that provide insights into the workings of our protocol and help illustrate exactly where a donation is allocated, or how fees are deducted.

Example: Grant distribution

To see this in action, check out the following recent grant transaction: 0xF55…Cd9

Here, two transfers were made. The first was from the originating fund, Lost Pets of New York to Endaoment’s Fee Treasury for $36.86 USDC (our 1% grantmaking fee).

The second transfer of $3,649.38 USDC originates from the same fund, Lost Pets of New York, and was granted to the recipient organization, Rikers Island Cat Rescue Inc.

Example: Donation

As another example, let’s examine a donation transaction for the same fund: 0xb6f…f27

Here, three operations took place:

  • The original WETH tokens donated were converted to USDC via Uniswap.

  • The resulting output of this swap, $3,462.80 USDC, was transferred to Lost Pets of New York (the designated fund)

  • Finally, an additional $18.52 USDC was transferred to Endaoment’s Fee Treasury, per our 0.5% donation fee.

Advancements still to come!

We're currently working with Etherscan to include contextual Transaction Actions with each operation. This feature makes complex transactions more understandable by highlighting only the key events that are relevant to you.

For instance, when making a donation on Endaoment, the Transaction Actions section will break down the key steps of that transaction, such as the transfer of funds from your wallet, the conversion of your donation into USDC (if needed), and the final deposit into your chosen fund or nonprofit.

We can’t wait to hear your feedback, and as always, we’re to suggestions for further improvements. Please don’t hesitate to reach out via Twitter, LinkedIn or Discord, or by email: partnerships@endaoment.org.
