Making Giving (Even) Easier: Endaoment’s Now Integrated with CoinTracker

Giving should be easy. You know what’s not easy? Accounting for giving on your taxes.

This tax season, that changes for the better.

Over the past few months, in partnership with CoinTracker, we’ve been working on automatic donation deduction tracking for every gift into the Endaoment protocol.

CoinTracker users with linked wallets will now see every transfer into an Endaoment contract address automatically flagged as a donation. It’s magic. It’s effortless. It’s cross-chain, retroactive and protocol-wide. It’s how giving should be.

When we started working on Endaoment, integrations like this were some of the most obvious possible enhancements onchain giving could bring to reality. This kind of auto-accounting is why we choose to build with smart contracts in the first place.

Companies like CoinTracker partner with protocols and companies to help crypto users accurately account for DeFi transactions, staking income, gas fees and more. By leveraging Endaoment’s onchain record keeping, CoinTracker can easily recognize and account for complex donations at massive scale and with auditable, transaction-level accuracy at its core.

Moreover, this provides a seamless link between donors and their tax professionals to close the loop on asset valuations, liquidation amounts, original transaction metadata and other important resources that can cost donors hundreds or thousands of dollars in professional support each year to pull together.

While this doesn’t replace asset appraisal, it makes the process significantly simpler. We’ve been working hard to educate lawmakers and regulators on how and why onchain giving is better giving, and this is the proof in the pudding.

This automation effectively lowers the cost of donating digital assets, making it more lucrative for investors to consider donating and less burdensome to be actively generous. It also makes sure no gift, no matter how small, goes unnoticed when it comes to your bottom line as a donor. Gone are the days where small gifts go without counting towards deductions. Generosity of any size deserves equal treatment.

Name for us another donation tool or provider that offers donors this level of support. You’ll be hard pressed to find a DAF, let alone a nonprofit that integrates with a tax prep provider in this way.

We’ll continue to obsess over how we can build better donation tools and integrations that support our donors whether on our app or across the onchain ecosystem and are looking forward to more of these kinds of partnerships across the industry.

This kind of tight integration between nonprofit and tax software is an extremely difficult thing to envision in a world of walled-garden finance, but open, public, decentralized and permissionless finance is here, and we do things differently.
